Math Prep

GOAL Adult Education can assist you with Math prep and remediation for the GED, as well as for math needs on the job or associated with entrance into specific career training. If math is holding you back from reaching your goals, this class could be for you.

Currently, we have one Math Prep class on the Calhoun Decatur Campus- Adult Education

Tuesday and Thursday afternoons from 1:00 PM – 4:00 PM.

Topics covered in the class include the following:
• Math prep for the GED
• Basic and applied mathematics
• Fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions
• Standard measurement and metric measurement, including conversion of U.S. standard measurement to metrics
• Simple algebraic equations and setting up formulas
• Understanding and solving word problems
• Mathematical concepts contextualized for specific career clusters (such as nursing)

To register for Math Prep classes, begin by attending one of the following PAIRS of orientation/registration sessions:

Our next enrollment sessions for the Decatur and Huntsville campuses are listed below. Enrollment consists of two 3-hour sessions. Attendance at BOTH sessions is required to begin your course. No need to register now, simply show up for the pair of enrollment sessions you wish to attend.

Bring to Orientation: Valid Photo ID, SS card, proof of residence. Under 18 students please call 256-890-4793 or 256-306-2536 for additional paperwork required. You will not be allowed to register without correct documents.
