Quality Enhancement Plan

Why is my pizza burning? An epic journey of analytical reasoning & problem solving

What is QEP?

The Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) is a document developed by SACSCOC Accredited institutions that (1) includes a process identifying key issues emerging from institutional assessment, (2) focuses on learning outcomes and/or the environment supporting student learning and accomplishing the mission of the institution, (3) demonstrates institutional capability for the initiation, implementation, and completion of the QEP, (4) includes broad-based involvement of institutional constituencies in the development and proposed implementation of the QEP, and (5) identifies goals and a plan to assess their achievement.

At Calhoun Community College, our QEP is focused on increasing students analytical reasoning and problem-solving skills.

Why is My Pizza Burning?

Why is my pizza burning?” is an epic journey to improve the analytical reasoning and problem-solving skills of all students at Calhoun Community College in an attempt to move students from standard thinkers to accomplished thinkers.  Along the journey, students will be challenged in the classroom, laboratory, and work-based learning settings to think critically.  Faculty and staff will engage in professional development to enhance the teaching experience promoting analytical reasoning and problem-solving skills in all phases of learning. The college experience will prepare students to either transfer to a four-year university or enter the workforce.  Ultimately, the community at large will benefit from a generation of thinkers who are ready to change the world.
