Calhoun Community College Awarded $10,000 Grant from the Daniel Foundation of Alabama for Math Program

Calhoun Community College has been awarded a $10,000 grant from the Daniel Foundation of Alabama to purchase iPads to support the college’s Developmental Math program.

According to Dr. Debi Hendershot, dean for Planning, Research and Grants, her office worked closely with Valerie Cox, developmental math lab coordinator at the college, in application for the grant  which is aimed at increasing student success in transitional math courses.

“We are extremely excited to receive this generous gift from the Daniel Foundation,” commented Hendershot.  “We feel that bringing this technology into the classroom will definitely have a positive impact on the students enrolled in our developmental math classes,” she added.

Located in Birmingham, The Daniel Foundation of Alabama’s mission is to strengthen communities within Alabama and improve the quality of life for citizens from all regions of Alabama through the support of quality educational programs, arts and culture, civic and community programs, and medical care and research.

In past donations, The Daniel Foundation has provided grants to Calhoun to support the college’s nursing program and Black Box Theatre.
