Calhoun Student Ambassadors to Hold “Calhoun’s Got Talent” Dinner and Show Fundraiser


To raise funds for the American Cancer Society's Relay for Life as well as other local charities, Calhoun Community College's Official student ambassadors, The Warhawks, are conducting "Calhoun's Got Talent" on Thursday, March 29, 2012, in the college's Kelley Gymnasium-Decatur campus.

The dinner and  show fundraiser will feature some of the college’s best student talent, selected several weeks ago through auditions.  Featured acts will include singers, rappers, musicians, and dancers.  Emcee for the event will be Mojo from the Mojo Radio Show on WZYP.  Judges for the program include WAFF-TV Anchor Kimberly Essex; Stephanie Greene, account executive with Cumulus Broadcasting; Lindy Ashwander, executive director of the Princess Theatre Center for the Performing Arts; and talent booking agent Calvin “Hollywood” Washington, owner of the Hollywood Entertainment Group.  The winning performer or group from the show will be awarded a $300 cash prize.

Dinner for the event will be served from 4:00 – 7:00 pm and is being catered by Swamp John’s.  The performances will begin at 7:00pm.  Advance discount tickets are currently on sale through March 19.  Advance general admission ticket prices for the dinner/show are as follows:  $15 (dinner and show combo ticket); $10 (show only); $10 (dinner only).  Student/children discount tickets (students must show ID at the door) are:  $12 (dinner/show combo); $8 (show only).  No discounts will be given on dinner.  Children 5 years of age and under will be admitted free with the purchase of a dinner ticket.

Ticket prices after March 19 or at the door are $20 (dinner/show combo); $10 (dinner or show only).  Tickets may be purchased from any member of the Warhawks or from the following locations:  Decatur:  Calhoun Public Relations Office, Calhoun Campus Bookstore, Jimmy Smith Jewelers, or the North Alabama Educators Credit Union; Athens:  Hobbs Jewelers or the North Alabama Educators Credit Union; Madison:  the North Alabama Educators Credit Union; Huntsville:  Calhoun’s Campus Bookstore.
