Calhoun Community College to Host Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony for New Huntsville Campus Building
September 1, 2016
Calhoun Community College will host a grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Math, Science & Computer Science building on the Huntsville campus on Thursday, September 15, 2016, beginning at 10 a.m. The new facility is located at 1 Warhawk Way, Huntsville, AL with the grand opening celebration to follow.
“While the new Huntsville building opened for classes on August 22 for the fall semester, we wanted to wait until our students were back on campus before we held the official grand opening so that our students could participate in the festivities, commented Klauber.
The three-story, approximately 90,000 square foot building houses faculty offices, collaborative work spaces, and over ten classrooms. It also serves as a state of the art learning facility for students with a wide range of labs, such as chemistry, physics, anatomy/physiology, and microbiology to name a few. “Calhoun takes pride in providing students with hands on learning to ensure they enter the workforce as high-skilled employees”, comments Mark Branon, Huntsville campus Director.
Ceremony speakers will include:
- Dr. James S. Klauber, Sr., Calhoun President
- Jimmy Baker, Acting Chancellor, Alabama Community College System
- Tommy Battle, Mayor of Huntsville
This facility also serves as a tornado shelter which is capable of holding more than 1,000 people on the bottom level of the building.
The event is free and open to the community. Attendees will have an opportunity to tour the new building and enjoy light refreshments. Please RSVP by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org or via phone at 256.306.2562 by September 6.
