Calhoun Graduation to be moved Indoors due to anticipated Inclement Weather
May 11, 2017
Calhoun Community College officials today announced that due to the strong likelihood of inclement weather on Friday, May 12th, the college’s 2017 graduation ceremonies will be moved inside to the Carlton Kelley Gymnasium, located on Calhoun’s Decatur campus. Graduation is set to begin at 6:00 p.m.; speaker for this year's service is Dr. Andrew Hugine, Jr., 11th president of Alabama A & M University.
Due to limited seating, each graduate has been provided with four tickets for family and friends. Tickets will be required for entrance into the gymnasium. Doors will open beginning at 4:30 p.m., and if any additional tickets are available, graduation coordinators will distribute one per guest when the doors open on a “first come, first served” basis. A sign indicating this will be posted at the front door of the gym until all tickets have been distributed.
Guests without tickets will be directed to seating located in the college’s Math/Science/Administration (MSA) Building to view the ceremony live. For those unable to travel to campus, the graduation ceremony will be streamed live; to access the link to the live stream, visit Calhoun’s website at www.calhoun.edu. The direct link will be located on the site’s homepage.
According to the Calhoun graduation office, graduates will need to report to campus no later than 5:00 p.m. on Friday for line up in the Fine Arts Building on the south end of the Decatur campus near the gym.
