Calhoun’s Bass Fishing Team Wins Big at Southeastern Bass Fishing Tournament
January 23, 2017
The Calhoun Community College Bass Fishing Team participated in the 2017 YETI Fishing League Worldwide (FLW) College fishing tournament at Lake Seminole, Georgia, on January 14.
Competing against 140 college and university teams in the Southeastern division of the FLW/YETI series, Calhoun’s team of students Denver Satterlee and Jordan Reeves placed 3rd in the tournament. This tournament victory will assure Denver and Jordan a spot at the FLW National College Championship this summer on Wheeler Lake in Rogersville, AL.
“The Calhoun Bass Fishing Team had existed off and on for years, but it was officially organized in 2012”, commented Meg Graham, Bass Fishing Team sponsor. “We really appreciate the continued financial support from the college and our team sponsors.”
Calhoun was the first community college in the nation to compete against four-year schools, and has helped pave the way for many community colleges around the country that now have fishing teams. The college competes in the FLW/YETI College tournament series, the BASS College tournament series, and the Boat US/Cabela College tournament series, where some of these tournaments have over 200 teams competing.
