Calhoun’s PR Department wins big during Statewide Conference

The Public Affairs, Community Relations and Institutional Advancement department at Calhoun Community College received twelve awards during the annual conference of the Alabama Community College System Public Relations Association (ACCSPRA) held September 6-8, 2017.

Calhoun was presented with three (3) first place Pyramid Awards; four (4) Awards of Achievement, and five (5) Awards of Merit in the Pyramid Awards competition.

Specifically, Calhoun was presented awards in the following categories:

  • Pyramid (first place) – Annual Report category for the 2015 Annual Report
  • Pyramid (first place) -- Direct Mail Piece/Postcards category for the "Save the Date-Jazz Under the Stars" postcard
  • Pyramid (first place) – News Placement category for the Jazz Under the Stars news release
  • Pyramid Award of Achievement (second place) – Direct Mail/Postcards category for the Technologies Post Ed Series flyer
  • Pyramid Award of Achievement (second place) -- Print Advertising - Series Ad category for the Decatur Daily: Opportunity ads 1-4
  • Pyramid Award of Achievement (second place) – Student Publications category for the 2017 Muse
  • Pyramid Award of Achievement (second place) – Recruiting Event or Campaign category for the Start Now campaign
  • Pyramid Award of Merit (third place) – Promotional Advertising category for the Math/Science/CIS building replica - USB drive 
  • Pyramid Award of Merit (third place) -- Brochure category for the "Get to Know Calhoun Career Services" brochure
  • Pyramid Award of Merit (third place) -- Catalog category for the college's 2016-17 Catalog and Student handbook
  • Pyramid Award of Merit (third place) -- Potpourri category for the 4 Simple Steps posters
  • Pyramid Award of Merit (third place) -- Flyer category for the Cyber Security flyer

“Each year our Public Relations and Marketing team exceeds my expectations with fresh and creative marketing strategies and initiatives,” commented Calhoun President Dr. Jim Klauber.  “I am extremely proud of the entire department and feel the awards are pure evidence of their continued hard work,” KIauber added.
