Candace Byrd-Vinson Head Women's Basketball Coach A native of Tanner, AL, Candace Byrd-Vinson was a basketball superstar during her time at Tanner High School where she played multiple positions. She was named All-County five times and was a four-time All-State selection by the Alabama Sports Writers Association from 1997-2000. She was recognized as 2A Player of the Year as well as The Decatur Daily Player of the Year. She averaged 21.3 points per game and 14.2 rebounds per game during her high school career, totaling 2,065 career rebounds and 2,795 career points. Decatur, AL – The Athletic Department at Calhoun Community College today announced that Arin Eddy has joined the college as the new women’s golf coach. A native of Hartselle, Alabama, and a graduate of Hartselle High School, Eddy was selected as a Universal Cheerleaders Association (UCA) All-American Cheerleader in 2011 and 2012 and is a two time Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) Individual Golf State Champion. Calhoun Community College and the Decatur-Morgan County Chamber of Commerce will host its Annual SWeETy Welding Camp. The camp will train up to 10 high school-age girls with electrical and welding skills, a trade often dominated by men. This three-day camp is being held daily on June 15-17, in the Advanced Technology Center on Calhoun’s Decatur campus from 7:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The camp is designed specifically for female students entering 9th through 12th grade that are interested in welding and electrical technology.
