Admission Requirements
To be admitted to Calhoun Community College, an international student must submit the following:
1. Application Process
- Secondary School or College/University Evaluation
- Students who completed their education outside the United States must have their academic records evaluated by a credential agency that is a current member of NACES.
- High School Records Only
- If you completed high school outside the U.S., you must submit a General Evaluation Report confirming that your education is equivalent to a U.S. high school diploma. Academic records must be submitted directly to the evaluation agency.
- High School and College/University Records
- If you attended college or university outside the U.S., you must submit both a Course-by-Course Evaluation and official course descriptions or a school catalog to assess transfer credit.
- If the course descriptions or catalog are not in English, you must obtain a certified English translation. Calhoun accepts translations only from SpanTran: The Evaluation Company or Josef Silny & Associates, Inc. Translations from other agencies will not be accepted.
- If you have not earned a bachelor’s degree, you must also submit a General Evaluation Report of your high school records.
2. Official TOEFL SCORES:
- Paper-based (500 minimum)
Computer-based (173 minimum)
Internet-based (61 minimum) - IELTS ranging 5.5 to 6.0
- Duolingo English Test ranging 95 to 160
- The following exams TOEFL, IELTS, or Duolingo English Test are not administered at Calhoun Community College
- The Scores must be mailed directly from the Educational Testing Services to the Calhoun Office of Admissions and Records. Personal copies are NOT accepted.
TOEFL Exception #1: (1) A student from a country where English is the native language or from a country exempt from the TOEFL; or (2) a student who has graduated from an accredited high school in the United States or from an accredited American high school overseas;
TOEFL Exception #2: A transfer student who has successfully completed English Composition 101 or higher with a grade of “C” or above from a regionally accredited institution is exempt from the TOEFL.

What is a Transfer Student?
A transfer student (that is, a student who has attended one or more U.S. colleges and/or universities other than CCC) who wishes to pursue an education at CCC, must also ensure that an official academic record transcript is sent directly to CCC by the Registrar of each college and/or university that the student attended. In addition, the student must submit to the HUNTSVILLE Admissions Office a completed Transfer Eligibility Form and ALL of the above to the International Student Advisor located on the Huntsville-Research Park Site.
Academic credits earned at a foreign college or university must be translated and evaluated (course-by-course) by a NACES approved evaluation agency.

To receive transfer credit for foreign coursework, students must:
- Submit official foreign transcripts and/or documents to a NACES-approved evaluation agency for course-by-course evaluation and translation.
- Have official course descriptions sent directly from the issuing institution to Calhoun Community College.
- Ensure submitted course descriptions are in English or request an official translation from a NACES-Approved agency.
