Calhoun Community College and Morgan County Economic Development Association (EDA) Team up To Host “Teachers on Tour”

August 1, 2018

On August 2, 2018, Calhoun Community College will host up to 1,000 local educators on its Decatur campus to participate in the Teachers on Tour event. Tours will be held at 9:00 am – 10:30 am and 12:30 pm – 2:00 pm at the Aerospace Training Center (ATC).

Calhoun’s Technologies division, in partnership with the Morgan County Economic Development Association (EDA), will provide tours of the college’s technologies division to teachers of Decatur City, Hartselle City and Morgan County schools. According to John Holley, dean of Calhoun’s Technologies division, “Participants will be broken into two groups of 500. Each group will visit various classrooms in areas such as Welding, Machine Tool Technology, Industrial Maintenance, Robotics, Process Technology, Design Drafting, as well as visit local manufacturing industries.” Representatives from each area will give a brief overview of their program as well answer any questions from those participating in the tour.

“We are extremely excited for the opportunity to partner with the EDA on this incredible initiative. This is another great opportunity for Calhoun to showcase the extensive programs we offer in our technologies division and to inform our local educators on the many programs the college offers which can lead to employment in high-wage industries,” commented Dr. Joe Burke, Calhoun’s Interim President.
