Calhoun Community College Athletes Finish the 2018 Spring Semester With Academic HonorsJuly 24, 2018
Sixteen student athletes from Calhoun Community College were recognized by the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) with academic honors. The NJCAA honors three All-Academic Student-Athlete Awards with qualifying grade-point averages for each honor.

NJCAA All-Academic First Team: 4.00 GPA

NJCAA All-Academic Second Team: 3.80-3.99 GPA

- Makaila Aday
NJCAA All-Academic Third Team: 3.60-3.79 GPA
- Colin Chamblin
- Larry Meisner
- Men’s Golf
- Trey Poteet
- McKenna Rose
- Demarie Corley
Sophomore student athletes completed the spring semester with a 53% graduation rate. The athletic department anticipates the graduation rate will increase to 91% at the end of the summer semester. The Women’s Golf team leads the pack with a 100% graduation rate followed by the Softball (93%), Baseball (92%), and Men’s Golf (75%).
The NJCAA recognized the Softball team as an Academic Team of the Year (Honorable Mention) with a 3.46 GPA.
Athletic honors included:
- Golfer Sam Murphy – NJCAA All- American Honorable Mention
- Softball Sydnee Uhlman – ACCC All Northern Team
- Baseball Will Sipes – ACCC All Northern Team
Twelve Calhoun Athletes have signed Athletic Scholarships for transfer to various universities/colleges.
