Fourteen former Virginia College students included in enrollment

Calhoun Community College successfully kicked-off its 2019 spring semester this week, welcoming a number of new faces to its campuses. Included among the approximately 9,000 students enrolled to date (the college continues to conduct registration for dual enrollment students and delayed-start classes), are 14 students formerly attending Virginia College.

According to Calhoun’s Office of Admissions, the 14 students are primarily majoring in General Studies, Nursing, Surgical Technology and Computer Information Systems (CIS). In addition to the 14 currently enrolled, another 37 have submitted applications to attend Calhoun and several are working with college admissions and registration staff to complete the enrollment process.

“The students who have applied and not yet registered are at various stages of the enrollment process, and our staff is actively working with them in completing any remaining paperwork or steps to complete enrollment and registration,” said Cedric Arrington, director of admissions and records and college registrar. Of the students now enrolled, several have qualified and received financial aid this semester.

“We are pleased that these students have selected Calhoun Community College to continue their education and career goals and we are extremely excited to welcome them to the Calhoun family,” commented Dr. Joe Burke, Calhoun Interim President.

Registration continues for Calhoun’s delayed-start classes, which begin March 5. For more information, contact Calhoun’s Admissions Office at 256-306-2595; Advising at 256-260-4330; Financial Aid at 256-306-2628; visit any Calhoun campus site; or go to the college’s website at
