Calhoun Community College Wins 13 Statewide Awards

The Public Affairs, Community Relations and Institutional Advancement department at Calhoun Community College received thirteen awards during the annual conference of the Alabama Community College System Public Relations Association (ACCSPRA) held September 5-7 in Orange Beach, AL.

Calhoun was presented with four (4) first place Pyramid Awards; seven (7) Awards of Achievement, and two (2) Awards of Merit in the Pyramid Awards competition.

Specifically, Calhoun was presented awards in the following categories:

• Pyramid (first place) – Student Publications category for the “2018 Muse”
• Pyramid (first place) – Student Success Story category for “Student didn’t let disability, time or doubt stop her from obtaining her degree”
• Pyramid (first place) – Posters (single or series) category for the “Calhoun’s Jazz band presents ‘Blues Walk” poster
• Pyramid (first place) – Direct mail piece/Postcards category for the “You’ve Got Goals. Start Here” postcard
• Pyramid Award of Achievement (second place) – Annual Report category for the 2016 Calhoun Community College Annual Report
• Pyramid Award of Achievement (second place) – Brochures (single or series) category for the CIS Program Brochures
• Pyramid Award of Achievement (second place) – News Placement category for “Calhoun Awarded 1.5M Grant for the Automotive Technology Program”
• Pyramid Award of Achievement (second place) – Outdoor Advertising category for the “Wardrobe Change that lasts a lifetime” billboard
• Pyramid Award of Achievement (second place) – Public Relations/Marketing Campaign category for the “Calhoun See4Free Program”
• Pyramid Award of Achievement (second place) – Digital Signage category for the “Paramedic Application”
• Pyramid Award of Achievement (second place) – Printing, Advertising – (single ad or series) category for the “Off to the Next Adventure…”
• Pyramid Award of Merit (third place) – Flyer category for the “Job Fair” flyer
• Pyramid Award of Merit (third place) – Printing, Advertising – (single ad or series) category for the “Time is Running Out….” ad

“The statewide Pyramid Awards competition is a fun and encouraging way for ACCSPRA to acknowledge the hard work and dedication that each marketing professional in our system displays while promoting their respective colleges,” commented interim President Dr. Joe Burke. “There is no doubt in my mind that our Institutional Advancement team will continue this winning tradition with producing engaging marketing campaigns that not only promote Calhoun, but our system as a whole,” added Burke.
