Calhoun To Host “Finding Fame” Event For Area High SchoolersFebruary 22, 2019
Decatur, AL – Calhoun Community College will host “Finding FAME”, an event offering the opportunity for high school students to learn more about the Alabama FAME (Federation for Advanced Manufacturing Education) program, combined with networking opportunities with sponsor employers.
Calhoun will open its doors on Thursday, February 28, 9:00 AM – 1:15 PM, to over 200 area high school students on the Decatur campus to provide an opportunity for students to network with employers and FAME students currently enrolled in the program. A panel discussion with FAME students will give the high school students a first-hand account of experiences and opportunities available in the sponsor companies. Lunch for all attendees will also be provided by the college.
Students will have the opportunity to engage in hands-on activities facilitated by the FAME students as well as the chance to speak with sponsor companies during the Employer Networking Fair. The FAME lab, located at the Robotics Technology Park across from Calhoun’s Decatur campus, will be open for student tours.
Calhoun FAME sponsor companies include: Asahi Kasei; Brown Precision Inc.; Bruderer; EFi Automotive; GE Appliances, A Haier Company; Georgia-Pacific; Packaging Cooperation of America; Polaris; Snap-On; Sonoco; and Toyota. Not only will students be able to learn more about educational opportunities leading to in-demand technical careers, but they will also see that education put into action.
