August 9, 2018

Decatur, AL — In response to local demand, Calhoun Community College is now offering Certified Six Sigma Green Belt exam preparation on its Decatur campus.

Six Sigma Green Belts are quality improvement team members who apply their knowledge and skills to analyze and solve problems by utilizing tools and processes for the pursuit of Six Sigma quality level in virtually every industry, from automotive to healthcare to the non-profit sector. This course provides an overview of Six Sigma and the DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve and Control) problem solving methodology and includes both statistical and theoretical techniques used for continuous process improvement.

“Unlike many Six Sigma certificate training programs, this course intends to prepare participants for a nationally/globally recognized professional certification: ASQ’s Certified Six Sigma Green Belt,” commented Jennifer Geiger, Calhoun Workforce Solutions manager.

Students who are not able to attend the class sessions in person may participate in the class online. Class begins October 8, and will meet on Monday from 5pm to 8pm each class session; cost for the course is $695. The certification exam is optional and participants must apply to sit for the exam with the American Society for Quality. ASQ requires a minimum of three years’ work experience related to the Green Belt body of knowledge.
