Calhoun’s Career Services Team hosts 7th Annual Nursing Recruitment Fair
October 18, 2019The Calhoun Community College Career Services department will host its seventh Nursing Recruitment fair on Monday, October 21, 2019 from 3:00 pm – 5:00 pm in the Advanced Technology Center on the Decatur campus.
“With a decline of skilled nurses, and a high demand from the healthcare industry in North Alabama, we designed this event to provide the opportunity for our upcoming nursing graduates, current nursing students, and pre-nursing students to network and gain exposure to various healthcare employers”, commented Kelli Morris, Calhoun’s Director of Career Services and Cooperative Learning. According to Morris, a variety of employers from large hospitals such as Huntsville Hospital, DCH (Druid City Hospital) Health System in West Alabama and North Alabama Medical Center plan to attend. The list also includes medical facilities such as Home Instead Senior Care, Valley View Health and Rehabilitation and Adept Plus, Inc., as well as The University of Alabama in Huntsville, The University of Alabama – Tuscaloosa, Troy University, and Auburn University will share information about advanced degree options.
Calhoun students that plan to attend should come dressed for success with a current résumé in hand, as there will be an opportunity for resume critique and potential onsite interviews with employers. “Calhoun provides a wide variety of hands-on training alongside soft skills; we feel this event provides the perfect platform for our students to showcase those skillsets to potential employers”, commented Dr. Joe Burke, Calhoun Interim President. “The success of landing stable employment for our nursing students after graduation is critical, and this recruitment fair is essential in making that connection,” added Burke.
