Calhoun’s Student Ambassadors to Deliver Over 300 Winter Items to the North Alabama Coalition for the Homeless

November 6, 2018

For the past three years, Calhoun’s Warhawk Student Ambassadors conduct an Annual Winter Drive on the Huntsville and Decatur campus to collect gently used blankets, jackets, scarves and gloves to deliver to those less fortunate. The students load all of the donate items and deliver them to the North Alabama Coalition for the Homeless (NACH). From there, the NACH distributes thousands of blankets and winter items to the homeless as part of their “Annual Blanket and Cold Weather Gear Drive”.

This year, the Warhawks received an overwhelming outpour of support from those in our local communities in Madison, Morgan and Limestone counties. “Each year we host this drive, we become more and more amazed by those in our community that not only understand how torrential the cold temperatures become during the winter months here in North Alabama, but that they understand how important it is to keep warm. We have gotten very nice items such as brand new blankets, jackets and gloves which will go a long way as the temperatures slowly begin to drop”, commented Sherika Attipoe, Warhawk Sponsor. “We are so excited that we have created a buzz for this event and are very thankful to everyone that has donated.”

Calhoun’s Warhawk Student Ambassadors will deliver all donated winter items to the NACH office, 1580 Sparkman Drive, Suite 111, Huntsville on Wednesday, November 7 at 1:30 p.m.
