Insurance
A comprehensive, affordable insurance and benefits program is administered by Retirement Systems of Alabama (RSA). Employees and potential employees may view the PEEHIP Member Handbook for details regarding specific options.
Retirement Plan
Teachers’ Retirement
The Teachers’ Retirement System (TRS) was established in 1939 to provide benefits to qualified persons employed by state-supported educational institutions. The TRS is a defined benefit plan qualified under Section 401(a) of the Internal Revenue Code. For more information visit The Retirement Systems of Alabama. All full-time employees who work at least 20 hours per week are required to participate in The Teachers’ Retirement System of Alabama.
RSA-1 Deferred Compensation
RSA-1 is a powerful tool to help you reach your retirement dreams. As a supplement to other retirement benefits or savings that you may have, this voluntary plan allows you to save and invest extra money for retirement, tax deferred. Not only will you defer taxes immediately, your contributions and any earnings will grow on a tax-deferred basis as well. In addition, the College is closed Thursday and Friday each year during Spring Break and the days between Christmas and New Year’s Day.
