The Decatur campus of Calhoun Community College will be the site for the 2019 CAREER AND WORKFORCE EXPO, scheduled for Tuesday, February 5, 2019, from 8:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. Space is still available for exhibitors.
Last year, over 1,000 students, parents, and educators from communities and school systems across Calhoun’s service area attended. The Expo is targeted to high school and college students and brings together local businesses, industries and employers who provide the jobs in our area and the young people who will soon fill those jobs. The Expo is a day of career exploration and is not a job fair. There is no charge to participate in this event.
“The Career and Workforce Expo represents an effective way to reach hundreds of young people and to encourage them to begin preparing for the jobs of the future,” commented Gwen Baker, director of Calhoun’s Dual Enrollment and Tech Prep programs. “This year’s event will continue the focus of the last several years on bridging the skills gap identified by area businesses and industries among today’s workforce.”
The Career & Workforce Expo is an annual program sponsored by the Calhoun Community College Tech Prep Consortium in conjunction with the Decatur-Morgan County Chamber of Commerce, the Greater Limestone County Chamber of Commerce and the Morgan County Economic Development Association. Additional support is provided each year by area businesses and industries.
The Calhoun Tech Prep Consortium includes Calhoun Community College, Athens City Schools, Decatur City Schools, Hartselle City Schools, Limestone County Schools, Madison City Schools, and Morgan County Schools.
