Eligibility Criteria

GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Honors Program Scholarship:
- High school 3.5 or higher
- College 3.25 or higher with 12 credit bearing hours)
- Career Development Scholarship: 2.5

Presidential Honors Program Scholarship (Incoming Students)
The criteria for this scholarship is determined by the Honors Program coordinators in conjunction with the Scholarship Committee. This scholarship will cover in-state tuition and fees up to 15 credit hours for fall and spring semesters. This scholarship is guaranteed for two years as long as the student remains in the Presidential Honors Program.
Academic Scholarship¹
This scholarship is available to any student (incoming or current). Awardees are selected by a multidisciplinary scholarship committee. Preference is given to students with GPAs of 3.0 or higher. ACT scores of 20 or higher are taken into consideration when awarding high school seniors. This is a one-year scholarship for up to $4,000 ($2,000 per semester). Scholarship will not cover certain fees.
Cyber ACCESS Scholarship
This scholarship is designed to help those with an IT background advance their knowledge and prepare for in-demand roles in cybersecurity. Selected students are awarded tuition and fees to complete the Cybersecurity Essentials Short-Term Certificate as well as a voucher to take the CompTIA Security+ and CompTIA PenTest+ exams.
Cyber ACCESS aims to build Appalachia’s workforce system by developing cybersecurity skills and curating resources throughout Appalachia’s community colleges and associated companies for a more industry-relevant and resilient economy across multiple occupational areas.
Deadlines
- Fall: July 1
- Spring: December 1 (2025 only; November 1 for future Spring semesters)
Major: Must major in Cybersecurity Essentials Short-Term Certificate
Scholarship Covers: 9 credit hours, including full tuition, fees, and Warhawk Book Pack (student must complete all 9 credit hours in 1 semester)

- IT background (high school or college coursework and/or work experience)

How to be Considered
The criteria for this scholarship is determined by the division dean. Scholarships are awarded on a competitive basis and are not guaranteed based on minimum eligibility requirements.
Summer Scholarship
Summer scholarships may be available based on forfeitures from prior recipients. Students interested in obtaining a scholarship for the summer term should complete the listed application requirements by March 1 and must meet the minimum required GPA of 3.0.
¹ The institutional scholarships noted may be stacked to cover tuition and fees up to 12 credit hours. These scholarships can be stacked with other institutional scholarships, but cannot exceed the amount of tuition and fees. To be eligible for the spring portion of any award, students must maintain a cumulative 3.0 GPA and complete at least 12 credit hours.
