The Prepaid Affordable College Tuition (PACT) Program is a Section 529 college savings program administered by State Treasurer’s office.

Section 529 of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 authorizes states to create two types of college savings programs – prepaid tuition plans and college savings plans. Alabama was the third state in the nation to implement a prepaid college tuition program when the Prepaid Affordable College Tuition (PACT) Program began operating in March 1990.

Calhoun Community College students to who wish to utilize their PACT should contact the Business Office at 256-306-2540 or email carla.larry@calhoun.edu. All students should check each term to ensure that their Calhoun account is “Paid”.

A student can make online student account payments with a credit or debit card.  Calhoun accepts Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express.  The option to pay by credit or debit card is available online or in person only.  Calhoun does not accept payments by phone. 

From the MyCalhoun Experience portal, locate the Student Services Quick Links card, and then select the following:

• Pay Tuition & Fees
• Complete MFA authentication
• Make Payment
• Select Term
• Enter the payment amount and click “Add” and then “Continue”
• Complete the process by entering the requested card information

The payment confirmation will be emailed. If you do not receive a confirmation, first check to see if the email on your account is correct. If the email is verified correct, then the payment has failed and payment must be resubmitted. Any future refunds will be refunded to the debit or credit card up to the total paid.

Cash and check payments may be presented in person at the Decatur or Huntsville Campus during the Business Office hours of operation or check payments and money orders may be mailed but must be received by the payment deadline. Calhoun does not accept out-of-state, starter, or counter checks.

Please ensure that a correct physical address, phone number, and Driver’s License number are presented on the check as well as the student’s ID number on the memo line of the check. In the event your check is returned from the bank, your account will be assessed a $30 return check fee.

For payments made by check, any applicable refund will be placed on hold for a period of 30 days from the date of the payment to ensure the check is honored prior to issuing any refund.

Calhoun does not allow overpayments. Any refunds due to a student will be returned to the originating bank.

Calhoun has partnered with TouchNet to provide payment plan options for tuition and fees. The only cost to enroll is a $40 non-refundable enrollment fee. All down payments and enrollment fees are processed immediately with a credit/debit card. Regularly scheduled payments will process monthly. External scholarship agencies must establish their own account by completing a Sponsorship Data Form.  Once the student or agency remits the scholarship award letter or disbursement confirmation via email to businessoffice@calhoun.edu, the scholarship will be applied as estimated aid on the student’s account in order to secure the student’s course schedule until the agency remits the scholarship funds to the college.  Agencies can send scholarship payments via ACH or mail checks to the same address as in the check payment section.  Once funds are received, they are receipted on the scholarship’s account and applied to the student account as an actual payment to cover any eligible charges.  Any excess scholarship funds are handled based on the scholarship agency’s instructions as marked on their Sponsorship Data Form.   

Students who intend to use financial aid to pay tuition and fees must complete all financial aid processes by the due date. Financial aid awards appear as authorized aid on your student account once you have completed all financial aid requirements and accepted your awards. You will also need to ensure that you will have enough financial aid to pay your balance. Any remaining balance that will not be covered by financial aid MUST be paid by the due date to avoid deletion of your schedule.
