SweETy Welding Camp for Girls

SWeETy Welding Camp for Girls

Calhoun’s Summer Welding Camp for Girls is a hands-on program that introduces girls entering 9th through 12th grade to electrical technology and welding skills. Participants gain real experience in welding labs and explore future opportunities in this high-demand field, often dominated by men, through engaging, supportive instruction.

The goal is to offer girls an opportunity to gain basic hands-on experience that can lead to high-paying careers in high-growth industries. After first learning the importance of safety when working with electrical mechanisms and welding, the campers learn about the many intricate parts that go into both welding and electrical technology. This includes various welding processes, procedures, electrical wiring of parts and components.

Many young women are interested in welding and chnical fields but don’t have an opportunity to expanted their knowledge in that area at school. SWeETy camp is ideal for those young ladies, as it helps expand their knowledge in a field that has been seen for many years as non-traditional for women,”
