FREE CDL Training for Women

Free CDL training may be available to qualified women candidates. If you have always wanted to be a truck driver, or you are looking to transition to a new career after being in the workforce for a period of time, Calhoun Community College can provide the training and testing you need.

Application Criteria

  • Must have an interest in pursuing a career as a Commercial Driver.
  • Must meet the income levels listed on the bottom of this page.
  • Must be available to attend all classes.
    • Mondays – Thursdays | 8:30 am – 5:30 pm
    • April 07 – May 01, 2025.
  • Must be able to attend weekly throughout the month of February 2025 to prepare for CDL permit testing.
  • Must be able to attend soft skills training in month of March 2025.
  • Must complete the following at a college-designated clinic (scholarship will pay the fees):
    • DOT Physical – DOT Chain of Custody Drug Screen Results must be negative. Negative-dilute results will not be accepted.
    • Results cannot be dated more than 30 days before April 07, 2025.
  • Must provide below documents by deadline.
    • Motor Vehicle Report from the past three years. Results cannot be dated more than 30 days before April 07, 2025.
    • Provide copy of driver’s license and social security card
  • Students must have learner’s permit before second week of class. Students will be reimbursed for permit fees and commercial license fees upon submission of receipts.
  • Once accepted, all students must agree to meet deadlines for the screening requirements.
  • Students who do not turn in the required documentation by the deadlines will not be accepted into the program.
  • Must have reliable transportation to and from Calhoun Community College, Decatur Campus, 6250 US Highway 31 North, Tanner, AL 35671.
  • Must have a working telephone
