The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Training Program prepares students to provide direct patient care to the healthcare industry. Upon successful completion of the program, students will be eligible to sit for the state board exam, become certified, and listed on the Alabama Nurse Aide Registry.

7-week course

NOTE: Must be at least 18 years of age to enroll in the Program. Class is limited to 16 students
  • Dates: February 09, 2026 – March 20, 2026
  • Time: 9:00 am – 1:00 pm
  • Days:
    • Mondays through Thursdays first 5 weeks
    • Monday – Friday – (clinicals) – 9:00 am – 1:00 pm
  • Location: Huntsville-Research Park Site
  • Cost: Course Fee $899 (Includes textbook, one set of scrubs)
  • Additional Fees (Estimated):
    • 2-Part TB skin test – documentation forms must be received by January 20, 2026
    • Background and drug screen
    • State Certification Exam Fee – $85.00

    The program includes a 20-hour clinical rotation at a long-term care facility. Required Clinical rotations will be held the last week of class, Monday through Friday from 9:00 am – 1:00 pm.

Requirements

  • Students must complete the 2-part TB skin tests or chest x-ray and send documentation to CWS Healthcare Office by deadline – January 20, 2026.
  • Background check and drug screen are required. Process will be discussed the first night of class.
  • If all requirements are not met and documentation not received, student will not be allowed to continue in the class.
  • The fee for the state certification will not be due until after the end of the class. Payment must be made at the time of the testing via debit or credit card. The state exam will be held in the Health Sciences building on the Decatur campus.

  • Students will be sent a confirmation email – please keep as your receipt
  • Students will receive an email with required class forms attached.  Students must turn in all paperwork by deadline.

Paths for Success Scholarship

Students may qualify for and apply for the Paths for Success scholarship if they need financial assistance to cover costs like tuition, transportation, or childcare while pursuing a credential or certification that leads to employment.

The ELM Foundation Scholarship

A student can apply for a workforce scholarship from the ELM Foundation in Huntsville, AL if they need financial support to pursue career training or certification programs that lead to sustainable employment and long-term self-sufficiency.

Interested in a personal student loan from Sallie Mae®? Students must be certified/authorized for Sallie Mae® loans at least 30 days prior to the class start date.
