Introductory Welding

Basic Arc Welding

This course is designed for the beginning welder who has limited or no welding experience. The emphasis is on basic practical welding of steel for home or farm use. Safety will be emphasized with supervised lab practice in gas welding, cutting, and arc welding. Various welding equipment and welding techniques will be surveyed. Welding equipment and consumables are included.

This introductory welding course will cover setup and basic fundamentals of these processes:

  • SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding)
  • FCAW welding
  • GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding)
  • PLASMA Arc Cutting
  • Oxy-Acetylene cutting
  • Use and Care of Tools

Advanced Welding

This course is designed for the basic welder who has introductory welding experience. The emphasis is on welding of various materials and techniques. Student chosen projects are often included in this course. Safety will be emphasized with supervised lab practice in gas welding and arc welding. Welding equipment and consumables are included. Minimum enrollment required.

Refund Policy

A full refund may be obtained by placing a written request to the Calhoun Community College Workforce Solutions, Industrial Training Project Manager, no later than 10 days prior to the program start date. No refund is available after 10 days prior to the program start date. If the refund deadline has passed, you may transfer into the next open scheduled class. Only one class transfer is allowed, no refund is available.
