Located in the beautiful Alabama Center for the Arts in downtown Decatur, Calhoun’s Art program is a traditional art foundation program of accredited courses transferable to universities and art schools. In this program, students can learn to draw, design, paint, and more in large, well-equipped studios with natural lighting as well as fabricate 3D work in various media. Whether you’re preparing for a career as a professional artist or looking to transfer to a university, Calhoun Community College’s Art program provides a strong foundation in visual arts.

This program is ideal for those planning to transfer to a university to pursue a B.A. degree in art. Note that some courses are offered only once a year, so students should work closely with faculty to plan their schedules.
About Art Careers
This program is for those who plan to transfer to senior institutions and pursue a B.A. degree in art. Some courses are only offered once a year in the day program on the Decatur campus. Students should plan schedules with the advice of the art faculty. A formal review of a professional quality portfolio of the student’s art work is required upon completion of the program of study.
Athens State Fine Arts Scholarship
If you have a 2.5 GPA and transfer from Calhoun Community College to Athens State, apply for this scholarship which pays the tuition for one class.
