Requirements for All Students in Health Sciences Programs
NONE OF THE FOLLOWING REQUIREMENTS MUST BE COMPLETED TO APPLY TO A HEALTH PROGRAM
DO NOT PROCEED WITH ANY OF THE REQUIREMENTS UNTIL YOU ARE ACCEPTED INTO A PROGRAM AND PROVIDED A DUE DATE BY THE FACULTY
All students enrolled in healthcare programs must participate in clinical education learning experiences at facilities such as hospitals, clinics, and medical offices. Calhoun Community College complies with the requirements set forth by the contracted healthcare agencies which offer students these opportunities.
Once enrolled in a health science course / program of study each student is obligated to:
- Undergo a health examination, TB screening, and validate immunity to infectious diseases
- Submit proof of current certification in basic life support at the healthcare provider level*
- Purchase low-cost malpractice insurance through the CCC health sciences division
- Submit to a background check** by a designated vendor
- Undergo drug and alcohol testing** by a designated vendor
- Comply with a dress code that includes an assigned uniform
- Retain reliable transportation to and from the campus and assigned clinical education facilities
* Certification in CPR must remain valid during clinical assignments and is accepted from (only) the following:
** Policies for drug testing and the background check are provided upon enrollment.
Failure to comply with all requirements and/or the results of drug testing and the background check may prohibit an enrolled student from participating in clinical education learning and necessitate course withdrawal and the inability to complete the program.
