Nursing A.A.S. Degrees
Nursing (A.A.S.)
The Traditional Nursing A.A.S. Program is designed for students who can attend classes and clinical experiences during regular day time hours. It is a five semester, full time program of study that includes classroom instruction, laboratory instruction, and clinical experience.
After successful completion of this program, the student is eligible to sit for the licensing exam to obtain employment as a Registered Nurse (RN). This program is designed to teach the functions and skills required as a vital part of the health care system.
RN Bridge Program for LPNs and Paramedics (A.A.S.)
The RN Bridge program is a 3-semester program to prepare licensed practical nurses (LPNs) and paramedics to obtain an associate in applied science (A.A.S.) degree in nursing. CNA certification is recommended for non-nursing applicants. Applicants to this program must meet all nursing admission requirements for the program, have completed all prerequisite general education coursework with a grade of “C” or better, and possess an unencumbered/unrestricted license as a Practical Nurse or Paramedic in Alabama. An active unencumbered LPN MSL with privileges in Alabama is also accepted.
RN to BSN Dual Nursing Degree Program (A.A.S. and B.S.N.)
Calhoun has agreements with Athens State University, Auburn University and the University of Alabama in Huntsville, to offer motivated students who are eligible the ability to enroll and earn degrees at both colleges. The plan of study allows an individual to simultaneously earn an Associate Degree in Nursing (A.A.S.) and a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing (B.S.N.). Upon completion of the program of study, both degrees will be awarded by the respective college. RN license eligibility is earned with the Calhoun associate degree program completion after the 5th semester.

Practical Nursing Certificate
The Practical Nursing Certificate Program offered by Calhoun Community College is designed for students seeking employment as a LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse). It offers a three semester, full-time program of study to its students to educate them on the practices, ethical and legal matters, as well as the clinical trainings of the professional career path of a LPN. After successful completion of this program, the student is eligible to sit for the licensing exam to obtain employment as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
