Radiologic technologists make up the third-largest group of healthcare professionals, surpassed in number only by physicians and nurses.

A radiologic technologist (R.T.) is a healthcare professional who performs diagnostic imaging examinations using ionizing radiation (X-ray). R.T.s practice in hospitals, clinics and physicians’ offices, and in many clinical specialties from pediatrics to orthopedics. R.T.s practice general radiography, fluoroscopy, or specialize in areas such as cardiac or vascular interventional radiography, computed tomography, mammography, or magnetic resonance imaging.

The Radiologic Technology program prepares students for a dynamic career in the field of diagnostic medical imaging. With a blend of classroom instruction, hands-on laboratory experience, and clinical training, students gain the skills needed to provide direct patient care to produce diagnostic medical images. Graduates are prepared to sit for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) national certification exam.

The Radiologic Technology program is located in the Health Sciences Division at the Decatur Campus.
