Studying Design Drafting Technology at Calhoun
The Design Drafting Technology program prepares students for employment as entry-level drafters in a high technology society. The curriculum is designed to provide students with the skill set necessary to advance as experience is gained in their profession. Students will receive training in the fundamentals of CAD drafting with introductory courses in the fields of mechanical and architectural drafting.

Associate of Applied Science Degree (A.A.S.)
Students will obtain the skills in drafting that begin in planning, extend to the development and production of final construction documents. Students will receive training in 2D and 3D software application, ANSI/ASME standard dimensioning, tolerance including G & D, reverse engineering, machine drafting, 3D, and 3D Animations. Students will also study construction methods, plans, details, and symbols dealing with structural, civil, and architectural Design Drafting. All students will enhance their abilities in the capstone portfolio class by learning the soft skills required to obtain their position in today’s career market.

About This Program
The Design Drafting program allows students to obtain an A.A.S. Degree or Short or long Certificates. Calhoun’s drafting program is American Drafting Designed Association (ADDA) certified. The program offers strong instruction emphasizing engineering, manufacturing, and architectural theory. Program instruction includes sketching, critical thinking, and advanced problem-solving skills, enabling each student to think and apply design drafting concepts. Our drafting program will intensify your learning experience by combining theoretical instruction, demonstration, and hands-on application.
