Shape Corp. supports the advancement of education in Manufacturing. We also know that being here in the same area of Alabama as Calhoun, can benefit students and our company to offer opportunities to them.

This will be the first time we use the program and we anticipate success. The education Calhoun provides them will be a big plus or our organization.

A new employer will get an opportunity to select students/employees that have the education to align with their staffing needs.

After graduation, they will have some experience working in their field. A lot of times just getting into a job is hard without work experience.

We have a great relationship with CCC. Our idea to originally partner with CCC came as a result of many of the graduates from CCC that we had hired in the past were well prepared and were work-force ready. It was a no-brainer for us to further that precedent and get connected to more and more potential employees and have the ability to help CCC enhance their programs of learning to meet the needs of industry.

The ability to bring co-ops into our organization has had a great impact on our efficiency and methods for hiring employees. We are able to get the training and certifications trained for the co-ops and create an next-in-line mentality as positions become available within our contract. We have the benefit of having an already trained individual that may already be working in the particular role or similar. It is a huge benefit and cost savings to the traditional way of recruiting, interviewing, and hiring new people.

I would encourage them to ask around and talk with other employers that currently utilize the co-op program. Discuss the benefits and cost/time savings from the traditional job search methods. I would also encourage them to give the program a try and they would certainly not regret the decision. They should communicate with CCC and ask about how they can help in building or modifying current programs specifically to their industry needs. They would see that CCC is great and easy to work with along with great input from instructors about the students.

The biggest benefit to the co-op program is having the ability to train potential future employees to fit within your organization before they are actually hired as full-time employees. You can assess whether they are a good fit for your company and how they function as a team member on a trial basis. It is also helpful to have the ability to reach out to CCC about past graduates should you need to hire more advanced employees to fill current opening. It is a great resource.

The process was incredibly easy and accommodating for me. First, we ask for resumes, and instructor evaluation forms for current available co-op candidates. After reviewing the resumes we were invited to the CCC campus to interview the candidates that we had interest in. CCC provided a small conference room and even scheduled the interview times for us and provided an agenda with co-op packet. We selected the candidates based on our interviews and instructor evaluations. We informed CCC of our choices and it was as simple as that. Continues to work great for our company.

We truly are appreciative for the partnership we have with CCC. It has really been a huge advantage for us since security clearances and certifications are so important to our industry. The program allows us time up-front to get the co-op student ready for employment with our company and meet contract requirements. CCC by far has the superior program compared to other schools.

Calhoun has a great industrial maintenance and FAME program.

Hiring co-0ps has allowed Sonoco to develop a higher skilled technical team.

Identify a mentor or mentors to work closely with the co-op to help relate classroom work to real life situations. This working relationship will help develop the co-ops at school and at work.

The wins for the co-op and the employer. The co-op can make money to pay for school, and the employer gets to develop a highly skilled employee.

Calhoun’s Co-Op program is a tremendous resource with Calhoun Community College and the community. One of our goals at RFCU is to build strong relationships within the community and Calhoun College. Partnering with the program helps us provide a positive learning environment for the co-op students. Students are looking for hands on experience while balancing school. The Program helps the students develop and helps us provide resources for these students to build beneficial experience for their future.

The co-op students have truly impacted our company in many ways. We consistently learn new things from the students every year. We have built relationships with many students after they have left the program. Numerous co-op students have continued their career with RFCU and they have truly been an asset to our company.

The Co-Op is an excellent program that helps students grow and build a strong platform for their career. They get to learn hands on experience while still getting positive feedback to help them grow for the future. As an employer, we get to be part of this process with each co-op student and love the relationships we are building along the way.

The Co-Op program makes the hiring process very easy. They work very hard to make the whole process seamlessly and work with us to help follow our company hiring guidelines. The Co-Op program set a deadline for resumes for the job opening then provided us with resumes. They allowed us to continue with resumes and our company interview/hiring process after that stage. They were in constant contact with us throughout the process and we notified them of the final decisions.

The Calhoun Co-Op program is full of great individuals that care about all of their Co-Op students. As a company that prides themselves on building bridges and growing strong relationship, the Calhoun Co-Op truly exemplifies building bridges and growing strongly rooted relationships with us. We truly enjoy working with the whole team at Calhoun and look forward too many years with the program.

Calhoun Community College had the groundwork already that LM needed to start a Co-Op relationship with.  A very important reason is the staff members that support the Aerospace Technology curriculum.

Tremendously, when I pick a Co-Op I already know that they have IPC 620 certification and classes directly related to the work that we do.

First of all, we get to provide opportunities for local students and we get to establish a pipeline of qualified technicians.

We like the program Calhoun is teaching. They provide real-world training to equip the next generation of technicians for their future roles in industry.

While there is no guarantee for employment at my company once the student completes their Calhoun program, we have gotten some excellent candidates and have been able to hire them for full time. To this day, they are some of our best teammates.

It is an opportunity to train the next generation of workers in a fashion that fits with your industry. You may even find a good worker to hire.

I enjoy teaching the most. It gives us a chance to pass along the lessons some of us have learned over the past 25+ years.

Calhoun made it a relatively simple process. You give Calhoun a set of minimum requirements and they will give you the resumés of students who meet those criteria- i.e. certain technical classes completed, must have CPR, must have OSHA-10 certificate, etc. If you want your company’s name to be better known with the pool of future technicians, Calhoun will even let you come in to teach classes and interact with the students. That is great!

Calhoun does a very good job and is quite receptive to our needs.

We knew in advance the Calhoun had a fantastic reputation. Everyone we work with is professional, knowledgeable and goes out of their way to assist.

We find the co-ops to be outstanding recruits. People that want to learn and succeed which makes them a great fit for our company.

They need to get involved with Calhoun and utilize this outstanding resource.

What we learn from Calhoun and the education they provide the students is in line with our training and people development. The students are more prepared to enter the workforce and become an asset to our team.

We began our relationship with the FAME program and then learned about the co-op program. The process for hiring a co-op is the same for others but we are willing to adjust their schedules so that they are able to attend Calhoun and work at the same time.

We appreciate everything Calhoun has done for us and looking forward to working with them as our business continues to grow.

We chose to partner with Calhoun because the education that the co-ops receive is very important to the growth of our company. The co-op support group at Calhoun is very helpful and any problems that may arise are taken care of very quickly.

Graduates of the EPIC co-op program are well prepared to make the transition to full time employee. They tend to learn our processes faster and have a greater understanding of the safety, environmental, and quality impacts of their roles in production.

Go ahead and give a chance. Calhoun is great to work with and you will be very happy with the level of commitment from the co-ops.

Upon graduation, we can hire employees who have developed the exact foundation that we recommend for a successful operator at our facility. The co-ops have already been indoctrinated into the culture and are ready to make an impact right from the start.

The EPIC program has an interview and draft process. All participating companies come together at one time and the process is time consuming but very beneficial.
