The Student Emergency Grant (SEG) Fund is designed to assist Calhoun Community College students by providing quick-response emergency grants. These grants are available to matriculated students in good academic standing who face short-term financial emergencies. The primary goal of the SEG Fund is to help students remain in school by addressing urgent financial needs.

Student Emergency Grant Fund Guidelines

Eligible Emergencies:

The SEG Fund can be used for emergencies such as:
  • Homelessness or sudden loss of housing
  • Fire in living quarters
  • Travel expenses due to illness/death in immediate family
  • Overdue utility bills/turn-off notice
  • Theft of essential belongings (e.g., computer, books, clothing)
  • Medical/Dental emergencies
  • Food or transportation needs
  • Temporary loss of job or income
  • Transportation card
  • Loss of childcare
  • Victims of Domestic Violence
  • Other emergencies (provide an explanation in your personal statement)

*Important Note:

If approved, funds will be distributed directly to the business where the bill is due and not to the student.

Ineligible Expenses

Student Emergency Grant Fund aid will NOT be awarded for:
  • Previous college debts
  • Tuition or college fees
  • Legal representation in a criminal proceeding

Eligibility Requirements

To qualify for the Student Emergency Grant, applicants must:
  • Be a matriculated student in good academic standing
  • Have a minimum GPA of 2.0
  • Complete and submit the Student Emergency Grant Application
  • Provide documentation supporting the emergency
  • Be enrolled in a minimum of six (6) credit hours
