ACT WorkKeys Profiling

Calhoun’s job profilers, working together with an employer, use job profiles to identify the key workplace skills necessary to successfully perform a particular job. Once identified, employers can use results to support the employment selection process (hiring, promotion, training decision).


ACT WorkKeys Assessments (Testing)

WorkKeys is a job skills assessment system measuring “real world” skills that employers believe are critical to job success. Assessments are available in the following areas:

  • Applied Technology

  • Applied Math
  • Graphic Literacy
  • Workplace Observation
  • Workplace Documents
  • Business Writing

ACT WorkKeys Test Prep

In order to prepare for these assessments, students can acquire online tutorials through Calhoun’s ACT Testing Center. For more information on ACT WorkKeys Test Prep, please call our Decatur Campus Testing Center at 256-306-2522 or our Huntsville-Research Park Site Testing Center at 256-890-4792.


ACT WorkKeys Paraprofessional Teacher Aide Testing

Calhoun has the capability to assist individuals in meeting the Teacher Aide requirements by offering WorkKeys preparation and assessments in the following areas:

  • Applied Math

  • Workplace Documents
  • Business Writing

ACT WorkKeys for Alabama Law Enforcement: BAT/Basic Ability Test

In partnership with the Alabama Community College System, the Alabama Peace Officers’ Standards and Training Commission (APOSTC) has adopted the ACT WorkKeys Assessment as the official Basic Ability Test (BAT) for all applicants for Law Enforcement Officer and State Correctional Officer employment and certification. The required assessments include:

  • Workplace Documents
  • Graphic Literacy

ACT WorkKeys for Alabama High School Graduation

The State of Alabama has established College and Career Readiness Indicators (CCRI) or targets required for high school graduation. The National Career Readiness (NCRC) set of WorkKeys assessments has been identified as an indicator that may be completed to satisfy the requirement. Please consult with your high school guidance counselor.

The NCRC consists of the following assessments:

  • Applied Math

  • Workplace Documents
  • Graphic Literacy
