Tutoring

Welcome to the STAR Institute!

STAR Institute is the Student Tutoring and Academic Resource Institute. We provide FREE one on one tutoring in all subject areas and success seminars throughout each semester. Student success is our number one priority at Calhoun Community College. Every effort is made to provide students with programs and services that can assist them in obtaining and reaching their academic goals.

NOTE: Now Offering Tutor Appointments on Campus & Online!

Here’s How to Schedule an Appointment:

  • Log in to myCalhoun.
  • Select STAR Institute Tutor Scheduling  under the Student Additional Apps
  • Click “Schedule an Appointment”
  • Select “Find First Available Immediately” or ‘Choose a Date and Center’
  • Select the class you want tutoring in
  • Press Search
  • Choose correct Location, Day and Time
  • Select In person or Online
    • If online, your link will be emailed to you.
  • Include note regarding what topic you need help in. PRESS Confirm.
  • You and your tutor will receive a confirmation email or text

All tutor sessions are 50 minutes each. You may schedule up to 2 appointments per class each week.

We Have Two Locations to Serve You

STAR Decatur

Located in Room 230 of the Chasteen Student Services Center on the Decatur Campus.

STAR Huntsville

Located in Room 206 Sparkman Building-Student Success Center on the Huntsville Research Park Campus.

Fall 2025 Hours

We offer Decatur & Huntsville In-Person and Virtual Appointments
  • Monday – Thursday:
    9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (the last appointment will be 4:00 PM)
  • Monday – Thursday:
    (ONLINE EVENINGS) 5:00 PM – 8:00 PM (the last appointment will be 7:00 PM)
  • Friday:
    (ONLINE ONLY) 9:00 AM – 12:00 PM

Tutor.com is available Online Monday through Thursday 3:00 PM – 9:00 AM and ALL Day on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Please visit the Main STAR offices at both locations for assistance.
