Alabama G.I. Dependent Scholarship

Alabama GI Dependent Scholarship ACT 2017-349

Students who applied for this scholarship on or after July 31, 2017 are using the AGIDS ACT 2017-349.

Requirements for students who wish to use AGIDS 2017-349:

  • Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  This form may require additional documentation be submitted.  It is the student’s responsibility to fulfill all requirements for the FAFSA form to be processed.  This includes, but is not limited to, transcripts from former colleges and from high school.
  • FERPA form (ADVA-5j August 2017) completed and returned to Judy Kilgore.

Breakdown of Semester Usage:

# of credit hrs. enrolled – Semesters Used Per Term
1 – 5 hours – .25 semester
6 – 8 hours – .50 semester
9 – 11 hours – .75 semester
12 or more hours – 1.0 semester

Once the student is registered for the upcoming semester, the student must contact Judy Kilgore at (256) 306-2543 or judy.kilgore@calhoun.edu to manually apply his/her scholarship to his/her account balance.

All AGIDS versions cover the following charges:

  • Tuition (100 level & Above Campus Held Courses)
  • Bond Fee
  • Technology Fee
  • Required Text Books (For Courses above 100 level)

 AGIDS will not cover the following:

  • Tuition (Remedial Courses Fall 2018-Summer 2019 $129.00/credit hour)
  • Facility Renewal Fee ($9.00/credit hour)
  • Special Building Fee ($12.00/credit hour)
  • Remedial Course Text Books*

*Remedial Courses include courses below 100 level, i.e. ENG*094 or MTH*098

If the AGIDS ACT 2017-349 has any Grants or Scholarships they must be used before AGIDS ACT 2017-349 can be applied.

If the student does not have another type of financial aid, the student is required to pay the balance of fees and other charges not covered by the scholoarship before the payment deadline. Otherwise, his/her schedule will be deleted.

Once the student has an account balance of zero a book voucher may be picked up in the Business Office (either campus) usually the week before class begins and through the 1st week of class. Check your Calhoun Community College email address for exact dates.

AGIDS (other than ACT 2017-349) Application was made at the Veterans Affairs Office before 7/31/17

All students using AGIDS, when ready to transfer to a school and wishes to use there AGIDS benefits at the next school contact Judy for the transfer form.  This should be completed at least 30 days before tuition is due at the next school.
