Bill Easterling Memorial Scholarship Endowed at Calhoun

Bill Easterling spent four decades as a sports writer, editor and lead columnist at The Huntsville Times.

Friends and family gathered to pay tribute to legendary journalist, Bill Easterling at the endowment signing hosted by Calhoun College Foundation, Inc.  A special group of friends and colleagues established the Bill Easterling Endowed Memorial Scholarship to further the education of students majoring in general studies with a primary concentration in language and literature at Calhoun.

The scholarship recipient, of course, must show a talent for the written word. He or she must submit an essay “expressing the applicant’s ambition and career interests, describing how fine writing will advance those interests and explaining the applicant’s preparation for this goal,” according to the scholarship awarding criteria.  This scholarship will inspire generations of Calhoun students.
