Attention Calhoun students and alumni:
If you like to see how complicated machinery works and troubleshoot problems, then this program may be for you! This 2-1/2 year training program leads to the position of Instrument Mechanic at a Nuclear Power Plant. The training consists of a combination of on-the-job training, self-study, computer-based training, and classroom instruction. Instrument Mechanics maintain power station instrumentation and control equipment; perform corrective maintenance; and monitor equipment; and perform process-control failure analyses. Entry-level qualifications: Associates of Applied Science in Electrical/Electronics Engineering Technology, OR one of the following equivalencies that include 6 hours of college-level algebra AND 12 hours of college-level electrical/electronics theory:- 43 credit hours
- non-technical 4-year degree
- 2+ years of work experience in electrical/instrumentation maintenance in industry or the armed forces
