Calhoun Community College Announces 2024 Graduation Activities

As the academic year draws to a close, Calhoun Community College is gearing up for its graduation activities to showcase the remarkable achievements of its students. This year’s 2024 graduation ceremony will be held on Thursday, May 9, 2024, at 4:00 p.m. in the Propst Arena at the Von Braun Center (VBC) in Huntsville. For those unable to attend, the ceremony will be live-streamed on the college’s homepage at www.calhoun.edu.

According to Calhoun’s Office of Admissions, as of today, more than 2,649 students have qualified for graduation this year. Of that number, over 607 students plan to participate in this year’s commencement with additional names being added to the list daily.

“We are immensely proud of our graduating students,” commented Dr. Jimmy Hodges, President of Calhoun Community College. “Their accomplishments serve as a shining example of perseverance and resilience, and we are honored to have played a part in their educational journey,” he added.

Last week, the college kicked off its graduation activities with its Dental Hygiene Program. This evening, at 6 PM on the college’s Huntsville campus, students graduating from the GOAL (Greater Opportunities for Adult Learners) partnership program with Drake State Community & Technical College will be recognized during a special ceremony.

Additionally, the college’s health science divisions will hold special ceremonies next week as follows:

  • Medical Laboratory Technician: May 6th, 6 PM in the Multi-function Room, Math, Science & CIS (HSV)
  • Dental Assisting: May 7th, 11 AM, Exhibit Hall, Advanced Technology Bldg. (DEC)
  • Nursing Candlelighting: May 8th, 11 AM at the Kelley Gymnasium (DEC)
  • Physical Therapy Assistant: May 9th, 11 AM in room 109, Health Sciences Bldg. (DEC)

“We are excited to celebrate this milestone with our graduates and their families,” said Wesley Rakestraw, Vice President of Academic Affairs. “Their success is a testament to the transformative power of education, and we look forward to witnessing the incredible impact they will make in their respective fields,” added Rakestraw.
